The Different Types of Commercial Refrigeration

The Different Types of Commercial Refrigeration

Many businesses require commercial refrigeration units to keep their food, drinks, or other products in a cooling temperature at all times. A commercial refrigeration unit is usually designed in such a way that a maximum amount of cold air can be retained in the unit for maximum periods of time to save up the operating cost of the unit.

The following are the five most common types of commercial refrigeration:

Bar refrigeration
ine bottles, drinks, and mixers in a bar are stored in a bar refrigeration unit with glass doors to ease the bartender in keeping track of the available stock. Apart from that, the glass doors also enable customers to look at the options they are provided with. Some bar refrigeration units also come with plates and glass chillers. If one comes upon a bar refrigeration unit with solid doors, that is usually meant for keg storage.

Display Refrigeration
Many grocery stores, restaurants, and florist stores have display refrigeration unit to exhibit the selling items such as beverages, desserts, or flowers. Whether it is to be opened on hinges or by slides, clear glass door is necessary to allow the viewing of products displayed.

Worktop Refrigeration
This is a 2-in-1 unit where a refrigerator combines with a prep table. Commonly used as a sandwich or pizza prep table, this worktop refrigeration unit gives convenience to a chef to pick the needed ingredients from the refrigerator and immediately prepare the food without needing to move to another workstation. Having stated such, the serving time can be expedited.

Reach-in Refrigeration
The term “reach-in” suggests that it is of a height that is easily accessible at arm’s length while the chef is standing. Reach-in refrigeration unit, sometimes equipped with casters, is the typical unit normally found in kitchen of a restaurant. It is similar to a residential fridge but is of better performance due to the larger capacity. Modern reach-in refrigeration units has two zones which can be of different temperature.

Chest Freezer
The extreme cold temperature of a freezer hinders the growing rate of bacteria, helping to lengthen the life spans of the items stored. Chest freezer makes storing bulk goods less worrying as it is pretty spacious. Storage racks can be used in separating the different types of items kept in the freezer. An advantage of chest freezer is that it is more energy efficient in comparison with an upright freezer.
